Hi J-14ers!

Shhh, don't tell... but I may have burst out to One Direction's "One Thing" while I was driving or "What Makes You Beautiful" while I was in the kitchen. As much fun as my own renditions are for me (and as painful as they are for anyone who may catch a glimpse!), when a friend posted this One Direction cover video on Facebook, I was completely mesmerized.

Sure it's five guys (not those five guys) playing "What Makes You Beautiful" on a piano -- but they're playing the instrument itself like you've never seen before. And sure enough, when you pull back from the intricacies of what they're doing, it's a pretty gosh-darn amazing version of the One Direction song.

Of course, I still prefer the original with Harry Styles' heartfelt "That's what makes you beautiful" line at the end, but if you've ever played an instrument -- 13 years of piano lessons for me! -- then hopefully you'll get a kick out of The Piano Guys' version of the song.

He finished seventh on 'American Idol' in 2010 and now singer-songwriter Tim Urban is writing songs of the future... well, kinda! The 23-year-old just wrote a song that he thinks Taylor Swift should write if she breaks up with One Direction's Harry Styles.

From Harry's British accent and long hair to their December dates, Tim's song called "He Can Keep His Accent," includes all the essentials of a Taylor Swift heartbreak hit. "There's a lot of people wondering what song she's going to write about him," Tim Urban says. "So I personally had an idea of what that song might sound like."

But Tim's not betting on the breakup. He says the song is only applicable "if they don't work out... it could be true love!"

We were lucky enough to chat with Owl City's singer/songwriter, Adam Young, at Arthur Ashe Kids Day where he, The Wanted, Carly Rae Jepsen, Mindless Behavior and others rocked the house with amazing performances! Behind the scenes, Adam talked to us about the success of his third album, Midsummer Station, and the inspiration behind it and how that infectious summer-hit "Good Time" with Carly Rae came to be!

J-14: So we hear you knew Carly Rae before the song happened? How did that all come about?
Adam: We were fans of each others' music, and at the time, she had just been signed to her management who my manager knows. Both managers were friends. They kind of put us together on more of a business side, and the song just kind of happened.

J-14: Why is the album called Midsummer Station?
Adam: It's kind of an abstract title for a good reason because it's sort of an open-ended idea that makes you maybe feel a certain way. It's all about the imagery. It's all about "What is it?" It kind of means something to you in your own head. Everyone's perception hopefully is different.

Although we were all sad to watch her say goodbye to The X Factor last week, J-14 was lucky enough to speak with Diamond White about her memories, performances, and fave celebrities (yes, we're talking about One Direction) from the show this season. Check out our interview below:

J-14: How did you make the decision that you wanted to audition on 'The X Factor' to begin with?
Diamond: I saw it last year, and I was like, "I really want to do this." Just being able to sing in front of the celebrity judges, it was basically my dream. So I was like, "I'm just going to try for it and see what happens." My friend wanted to audition for it too, so we all took a trip down to San Francisco, and we waited in a long line and we had blankets. I just love singing, so I wanted to start with 'The X Factor.'

J-14: There was that huge shocker when you were sent home and then brought back. Can you tell us about that experience and what was going through your head?
Diamond: When I got eliminated, it was kind of like time stopped, and I couldn't really tell what was going on. My brain just stopped working. It was really tough just to know that I wasn't going to be on the show anymore. Then they called me back and it was like, "Oh my gosh. I'm so grateful to be here. I'm so blessed that they called me back. I can't believe that this actually happened to me." It only happens to one contestant each year, so for the judges to believe that that contestant was me, it was amazing. It was a crazy experience, and I seriously was not expecting that to happen.

On Friday, J-14 was lucky enough to head to an exclusive One Direction performance and interview in midtown Manhattan -- along with lucky fans who had entered and won SiriusXM Radio's contest! These lucky fans (and magazine editors!) were treated to an acoustic performance while One Direction recorded their special "Artist Confidential" show episode, set to air on December 25, 2012.

The guys were in great spirits during the interview, joking around with the radio hosts and fans. (Louis even made a special game of yelling "cheeseburger" as loud as he could as many times as he could during the interview!) J-14 is scouting out the hottest music around... and this week's pick is L2.

Here are five things you need to know about L2 whose single "Insomnia" is out on iTunes now!

1. Pop duo L2 consists of sisters Jessica and Melissa, also formerly known as The Labbadia Sisters. "We started singing when we were about three years old and we started doing musical theater in about the second grade," Melissa tells J-14. "And then when Jess was 12 and I was 15 we started our group together and we wrote our own song and went to the studio and we've been doing it ever since."

2. L2 has evolved throughout the years, drifting from pop-rock to now, mostly pop based. "We had a band and stuff like that and now we're more pop. We have dancers. It's more fun," they say. As radio music evolved, so did they. "Eight years is a long time, it's like as things change, you have to change with it."

3. Some of L2's musical inspirations include Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, and Rihanna. "We say that our music is a combination of all of those put together," they say. "Also Lady Gaga because she's an amazing performer and she's very creative and artistic so we really love her."

On Friday, December 7, 2012, J-14 was lucky enough to cover the Z100 Jingle Ball at New York City's Madison Square Garden! Some of our favorite celebs, like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and One Direction were in attendance -- but the topic of conversation on everyone's lips was definitely the Taylor Swift/Harry Styles dating rumor!

So, we couldn't help but ask Harry's One Direction band mate BFF Louis Tomlinson his thoughts on the rumored 'Haylor' relationship. "I'm happy that they're good friends," Louis revealed on the red carpet. "I've met her before and she's a lovely girl," he continued. Band mates Niall Horan and Zayn Malik agreed. "Lovely girl," Niall echoed.

Ed Sheeran got a little more personal about his duet partner Taylor and BFF Harry. Although he remained coy when we asked if Taylor and Harry were together -- "I don't know what you're talking about," he smiled -- he did reveal that any guy would be lucky to date Taylor. "She's a very warm, loving person. And she kind of spreads that around to her fans and family and friends," Ed says. "I think if a guy pinned her down, they'd be happy."

In case you missed Justin Bieber on the first leg of his sold-out 'Believe' tour, fear not! Justin just announced that he's adding an entire second-leg of the North American tour starting in June 2013. "Announcing the last of the North America leg of the #BELIEVEtour and putting tix up on sale before Christmas," Justin Tweeted. "Surprise!"

The whopping 30 new 'Believe' dates are the perfect complement to another milestone for Justin -- reaching 31 million Twitter followers! And even if you've been lucky enough to see Justin live on the 'Believe' tour this year, don't expect the same show this time around. "On the new dates, I'm switching it up a little," Justin says. "See you soon."

As if that weren't enough, Justin recently revealed that he'll be releasing a new acoustic album soon! "Been writing alot...new stuff...and yeah, the acoustic album, new arrangements, is happening..." he Tweeted.

Have you ever seen Justin Bieber live in concert? Will you buy tickets for the new 'Believe' tour dates?

While hanging out on the set of the new horror film, Old 37, singer (and Miley Cyrus' sister!) Brandi Cyrus and Abercrombie & Fitch model Maxwell Zagorski gave J-14 an inside scoop on how they got involved in acting, what it's been like on the scenes of their new film, and their favorite horror flicks!

J-14: How did you get involved with the new horror film Old 37?
Brandi Cyrus: A couple of years ago I was given the script at the SXSW festival, where I was performing with my band Frank + Derol. I was working with Dayna Ghiraldi of Big Picture Media, one of the producers, when I met the writer Paul Travers and got on board with the film!
Maxwell Zagorski: I auditioned several times to land the role of Jason. It was a really fun process. After reading entire script, I knew wanted to be involved in the project.

J-14: Have you always wanted to act?
Brandi: Ya know I've been on numerous sets and am around it a lot. It's not something I'm super passionate about, which for me is music, but I've always been interested in acting and film making and now that I'm getting the opportunity to do it, I really love it! It's been a great experience so far, and I hope to do more of it!
Maxwell: It wasn't until about three years ago I knew I wanted to act and about two years ago when I got serious that I could do this. I've played sports my entire life and it's that competitive nature and hard work/practice mentality that helps motivate me in all my acting.

Taylor Swift turns 23 today and it's hard to believe the year she's had! Besides having a triple platinum #1 album "Red," she's won tons of awards, nabbed three Grammy nominations and is now rumored to be dating Harry Styles! And we're sure this upcoming year will hold a lot more good things for Taylor!

Fun Facts About Taylor Swift
- Taylor lived on a Christmas tree farm when she was a kid. Her main chore? To get the Praying Mantis pods off the trees!

- She wrote her hit song "Love Story" while sitting on her floor. It only took her 20 minutes!

- When she was 15, it took her three tries to get her driver's permit.

At only 13 years old, pop singer Camryn sure has made a name for herself. After all, she's only opened up on tour for one of the biggest artists of 2012: One Direction! She recently stopped by the J-14 office to chat with us about how the opportunity came to be and what it's really like backstage with the 1D guys! Read on for more!

J-14: How did you come to be One Direction's opening act?
Camryn: I brought One Direction to my manager's eyes last year when I asked to go to one of their concerts when they were on tour with Big Time Rush. A month later, my manager texted me and was like, 'Hey. Call me. It's about One Direction.' And he asked me if I wanted to open for them for seven of their shows in May. After that, they asked us back recently for two shows, and I was so excited. They are amazing. I'm not star-struck to their faces, but inside I'm like, 'Oh my gosh!'

J-14: What is it like to tour with them?
Camryn: They're all such nice guys. It's amazing just to see how they all perform with each other on stage -- you can just tell that they are doing it because they love it. I talked to them sometimes when I would see them in the hallway. Everyone is super busy backstage so it was a little hectic, but when I see them, we wish each other luck and talk about the show. When I do talk to them, we just talk normally.

J-14: Spill! Who's your favorite member?
Camryn: I like Harry and Niall. Before I actually met them, I thought Zayn and Harry were the cutest. Then I met them -- and they're all so much cuter in person! I didn't know what to do with myself. I always spoke to Harry, Liam, and Niall. I guess I had the most communication with them.

The hottest new girl band in the world is also the first group EVER to win The X Factor UK. Made up of Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Perrie Edwards, this Brit girl group phenomenon have already had two hit songs overseas -- "Wings" and "DNA" -- and brought down the house with their incredible 'X Factor UK' finale performance of "Cannonball" in late 2011 (only moments before being crowned champs!). J-14 had the chance to chat with Jade, Jesy, and Leigh-Anne this morning -- Perrie was home sick with tonsillitis! -- and the girls were happy to dish on all things 'X Factor UK,' working with One Direction, and (sadly!) missing out on meeting Taylor Swift during their Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball performance this past weekend! Meet Little Mix!

J-14: You all auditioned as solo artists, but then were sent home and brought back as a group. What was that experience like?
Jade: We were sent home as individual artists and then the three of us got put into a group first. And then we told 'no.' And then we got put into separate groups. And then told 'no.' And then finally we were put into Little Mix. It was a bit of a crazy time!
Leigh-Anne: I think they had to go through all that process of finding who was supposed to be in what groups, and who would be in Little Mix. And it couldn't have gone better.
Jade: I'd actually already auditioned for 'The X Factor' twice before and made it through to bootcamp -- but I thought, maybe the third time is lucky! And it was!

J-14: What was your most memorable performance from the show?
Jesy: "Don't Let Go." It was when we got noticed properly as a group. It was when people started to say, 'Oh, these girls could have a chance of winning this.'
Leigh-Anne: For me, it was the first live show. Gary Barlow, one of the judges, actually said we were one of the best girl bands to ever be on 'The X Factor.' We were so nervous -- girls bands hadn't done well in the past -- and to hear that from Gary was just amazing.

J-14: You girls are obviously quite connected to One Direction -- Perrie is dating 1D's Zayn Malik! -- so have they ever offered you any advice?
Jade: When One Direction came on the show, they helped us out with a bit of advice. It was really nice to get support from bands that had been there and done it. It's nice to see One Direction so humble. Those boys are just so down to earth, so normal, and they work really hard for what they've achieved. So, we've definitely learned a lot from them.

After an epic year of two #1 albums, a sold out world tour, and performances at the MTV VMAs and Olympics closing ceremony, One Direction was the clear choice for MTV's "Artist of the Year."

"Artist of the Year, it is an absolute honor. We've had an amazing year and this is the icing on the cake, so thank you so much," Louis Tomlinson said.

"We want to thank you, MTV for all your support. And a massive thank you to all the fans. This wouldn't be possible without you, so thank you once again. This is amazing and we'll see you soon," added Harry Styles.

A comedy based on Justin Bieber's life is under consideration by ABC for next season! ABC originally proposed the idea last year, but it seems to be a possibility again! Since the show will focus on Justin's life and "awkward teen years" before he became famous, it's not likely that he'll star in it, but he and his manager Scooter Braun reportedly will executive produce it.

J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is TwentyForSeven.

Here are five things you need to know about TwentyForSeven whose single "All I Ever Wanted" is out now!

1. Michigan's pop rock band TwentyForSeven consists of vocal and guitarist Rajiv Dhall, keys, vocals, and bassist Matt Pastor, vocal and guitarist Blake Hayes, and drummer Corey DeLuca. "We all started playing musical individually in our early teens because we were really drawn to the fun and creativity it had to offer," they tell J-14. "The band ended up materializing from Rajiv and Matt deciding to start a new band after a former one split. The group started around our senior year in high school in 2010, and the current lineup was solidified in the winter of 2011."

2. Their band name came from a spelling mistake that ended up sticking. "The name was picked quite randomly and spelled in a difficult way, but was put onto a t-shirt and it stuck with people, so we ended up keeping it," they explain.

3. Look familiar? You could have spotted them on E!'s series 'Opening Act' where they opened for Gym Class Heroes! "It was a lot of fun being a part of the show! It opened a lot of doors and helped us form relationships we didn't think were possible," they tell J-14. "We made a lot of new friends, and got the honor of sharing the stage with Gym Class Heroes. The whole experience brought us closer as a unit, and gave us a look into the life we aspire for."
