When Emblem3 was on the The X-Factor they made it clear that they were not a boy band, and did not want to be labeled as one.
Now, with a new album set to be released in early summer, and a world tour with Selena Gomez to kick off in September, we revisit the topic. Does Emblem3 care if you call them a boy band?
"At the beginning, being called a boy band was [the worst thing ever], but now we got over that and they can call us whatever they want to call us," Drew exclusively tells J-14. "We're just going to chill and do our thing."
"People are going to label us whatever they want to label us," Wesley adds.
What would the guys rather be called if boyband isn't preferable? "I don't feel like [a boyband], genuinely. We're more like a manband," Drew jokes.
"A broband," Wesley chimes in.
Emblem3's first single "Chloe" off their upcoming album definitely has a pop sound to it, unlike the music they veered towards on The X-Factor. With the release of "Chloe," the guys seem to be more understanding about the label.
"In the past we didn't have any pop in our music," Drew explains. "So now it would make sense for them to call us [a boyband]."
