We all loved watching Zendaya Coleman every week on Dancing with the Stars, so when she lost to Kellie and Derek, leaving her and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy the runner-ups, her fans were more than heartbroken. Even though she kept herself together at the time, she now reveals just how devastated she really was.
"One week ago, I stood on the dance floor at 'Dancing with the Stars' and watched Kellie and Derek be crowned the champions," she wrote on her Access Hollywood blog. "At that moment, I was truly happy for them but my heart was broken. Everyone always says how I am mature beyond my years, but at that moment I became a 16-year-old."
Zendaya said she had to step off the dance floor and into the hallway where she hid in the staircase to try and hold back tears before doing interviews and seeing her fans afterward.
"I had put my heart and soul into this competition, I did not want to come in second place. And for some time, tears flowed and my dad and mom hugged me and told me how proud we were of me. I gathered myself together, did one interview and couldn't really talk anymore."
After the final competition, she said she was finally able to believe the words coming out of her mouth -- she really was proud of herself and her accomplishments.
"This experience taught me so much about myself and about what I am capable of achieving. Val believed in me and pushed me further than anyone has ever pushed me before. This competition also taught me a valuable lesson that is somewhat cliché -- it's not the destination but the journey."
Well, we think this is just the beginning of Zendaya's journey! Next stop? Her debut album, which will come out sometime this fall with the first single to be released in June.
