Get the inside scoop on Brendan Meyer, star of Disney XD's Mr. Young! J-14 had a great time catching up with the lead funny man to ask him all about the show, what he loves to do in his free time, and the number one thing girls do that absolutely baffles him.
J-14: How'd you get started in acting?
Brenden Meyer: I grew up in Edmonton, Canada, where acting was always a hobby of mine. It was just something that I did from age six. I didn't do it seriously and didn't have an agent for a while. Then when I was 10, I decided I wanted to get an agent. So my mom helped me get an agent and I started auditioning at Edmonton. I was lucky enough to get a show that got me an agent in Vancouver. Vancouver's the big hub of auditioning in Canada; people call it Hollywood North. To get an agent there was good. I've been doing the normal thing, going out for auditions, coming close, getting a couple things here and there. I've been doing that for five years. And then I got this job.
J-14: How are you similar to your character on Mr. Young.
Brendan: The character I play is Adam Young, a 14-year-old genius who graduated from a university at 14 and decided to go back to high school to become a teacher. He's the same age as the kids in his class. I'm similar to him in some ways- I'd like to think I have some of his confidence. I found that being an actor on a TV show is a lot like his predicament. I'm doing an adult job and sometimes I have to work 12-hour days. At the same time, I'm having normal kid problems, and I'm still growing up and figuring out who I am.
