His super power in Lab Rats may be incredible strength, but his real-life secret weapon? His super-charm! If you love Spencer Boldman, read on to learn how this southern gentleman rose to stardom. Plus, get the scoop on his latest role in 21 Jump Street and what he looks for in a girlfriend!
J-14: How did you get your start in acting?
Spencer Boldman: I've always loved film, and since I knew I probably couldn't be a cowboy or a spy in real life, I thought I'd play one in a movie! I started doing theater in middle school and tested for 'Victorious' before being in episode of 'iCarly.' I've been with Disney since I was 16, and have done three pilot [shows] for them. They take time to develop their talent. Nothing is an overnight success.
J-14: Tell us about your latest film, 21 Jump Street.
Spencer: There was a script, but a large part of the movie was improv, and the humor is smart and appeals to both guys and girls. It was cool to be able to work with Jonah [Hill] and Channing [Tatum]. I'm happy it was my first big film.
J-14: Your characters are often the "popular" guys. Was your high school experience like that?
Spencer: Absolutely not! Everyone has those times when you feel like you don't fit in. Everyone struggles to a certain extent with being cool and popular, but I never really let it affect me. I played sports and did theater, and school was really important to me. I had fun in high school.
