J-14 is scouting out the hottest music around... and this week's pick is Chris Wallace!
Here are five things you need to know about Chris Wallace whose album Push Rewind is out this September!
1. Chris Wallace has had a love for music from the very beginning. After his parents took him to see a Boyz II Men concert when he was eight or nine, he knew he wanted to be up on stage. "I had seen concerts before on TV but the energy and the feel from the crowd and all these things and the way it translated live, felt like nothing I had ever felt before," Chris tells J-14. "I just remember asking my mom, 'how do I go up there and be that guy?'" Does he look familiar to you? That's because he was the lead vocalist in The White Tie Affair. But once the band started deteriorating, he decided he wasn't about to stop there. "I still wanted to do my thing," he says.
2. Now a solo artist, he's just finished working on his latest album called Push Rewind, out next month. "This whole album is pretty much me dealing with the rest of my life," Chris says. "When I was writing a lot of the songs, I really just looked at old relationships or things that happened on the road. There's so much to write about that has happened in my life for the past three or four years."
3. One of the most personal tracks on his album is a song called "Ready to Fall" which is a love ballad, in which he pulled inspiration from his sister's relationship. "She kept saying she met the right guy and she was ready, and she kept using the word 'ready' so I called the song 'Ready to Fall'," he explains to J-14. "And I sang it at the wedding for their first dance!"
