If you don't know The Cab, then you should. After releasing their sophomore album 'Symphony Soldier' last fall, they've dominated the alternative airwaves and tour circuits. They are currently touring the US with pop-rockers Parachute and will soon be going on a worldwide tour with Maroon 5 this fall before starting on a new album. The Cab's lead vocalist Alex DeLeon and bassist Joey Thunder sat down with us in New York City before their show and gave us the dish on their tour, the story behind their current single "La La", and road necessities!

J-14: What's your favorite thing about touring?
Alex DeLeon:
I am a travel nut. I am constantly wanting to experience new things - always wanting to meet new people, try new food, see new places. I'm the adventurous one in the band, so I just love being away from home. Every single day you get a new atmosphere.

J-14: What's been your favorite stop on the tour?
Joey Thunder:
Philly was so much fun. One because we were all really full with Philly cheese steaks, which is always a good feeling. Second, the fans were so loud. It was phenomenal.

J-14: What's something you can't live without on tour?
Alex:
Whenever we have a bus I need 'Planet Earth'. The BBC/Discovery Channel show. My favorite thing to do is lay down, put on 'Planet Earth', and learn about animals and nature and if you mute it and write music it's actually very therapeutic and inspirational - as weird as that is.
Joey: Baby wipes. We don't get to shower after a show, and with the fans wanting to meet you and talk, you're like, "I know I smell." Cologne? It's temporary. You've got to get the grunge off. You've got to sit there and scrub for 30 seconds. Then you're like, "OK, I can go now."

J-14: What's one of the biggest compliment you've gotten from a fan?
Alex:
We had a few tattoos. That's the most flattering, is when they get a lyric in your handwriting. I've actually practiced my handwriting specifically for writing tattoos cause my handwriting is so bad.

J-14: What's the story behind your current single "La La"?
Alex:
I wrote "La La" when I was 16. The thing about that song is that I've had that chorus for seven or eight years and I've always loved it and I could never write good enough verses. So I was like, "I'm not releasing it until it's perfect. I really believe in this chorus". And then somehow the producer on our new album heard it and he was like "you have to use it on this record." We wrote verses and released it. It's our favorite song to play live.
