Every four years, the Summer Olympics ceremonies are packed with spectacle and grandeur -- and surprise celebrity guests. And although the element of surprise is part of what makes the ceremonies so exciting... sources have confirmed that One Direction will be part of London Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday night, airing on NBC from 7 to 10 p.m.
Although none of the One Direction guys have let out any secrets, they're all in close enough vicinity to be part of the global spectacle. What has been confirmed is that the ceremony will feature a section called "A Symphony of British Music" with 30 Brit hit songs spanning five decades -- sounds like a perfect fit for 1D!
Spice Girls, The Who, George Michael, Muse, Ed Sheeran, The Pet Shop Boys, Annie Lennox, and Fatboy Slim have been confirmed as performers. And One Direction is part of the group of younger artists who've been speculated to be performing as well. Also rumored to be on the bill are Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Emeli Sande, and the Kaiser Chiefs.
Tune in Sunday night on NBC at 7 p.m. to see if One Direction makes Olympic history with a performance at the closing ceremony.
