Hey J-14ers!
I am so excited that everyone will finally be able to see Perks of Being a Wallflower -- the incredible new film that hits theaters today! 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' (or Perks, as it's known) is one of the best films I've seen this year. (And it also doesn't hurt that it's based off of the book of the same name, which is one of my favorite books of all time!)
Logan Lerman stars as Charlie, a sweet, sensitive high school freshman, who is just trying to navigate his way through the school hallways and make a few good friends along the way. Although shy, he soon meets the beautiful (and older!) Sam (Emma Watson), a high school senior who is looking to repair her bad image and really find someone that she connects with. (Of course, he can't help but fall in love with her!) Sam's gay brother Patrick (Ezra Miller) is, like Charlie, also having a tough time in high school, though he remains remarkably positive despite all the negativity he faces -- and ultimately helps Charlie realize what true love and friendship really means.
I think that this coming-of-age stories is one of the most important ones out there -- and the entire cast has done a fantastic job at translating it from book to screen. When I saw the early preview several months ago, I completely fell in love with Logan and Ezra as Charlie and Patrick and couldn't stop telling all of my friends (over and over and over) that they need to see it the second that it comes out!
So, now I'm going to say the same to you! If you want a film that will make you laugh hysterically, cry (but in the best way!), and also make you feel better about ever going against the grain or being different from your friends, this is the film for you. (And I'd also recommend checking out the book, Perks of Being A Wallflower, by Stephen Chbosky -- which we are giving away in a 'Perks' Prize Pack over on our prize page -- so check it out!)
Let me know what you think once you see it! And check out the trailer below:
xoxo
