J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is Adelaine.
Here are four things you need to know about Adelaine whose sophomore album Currents is out April 30!
1. Hailing from Houston, TX, the female-fronted rock band Adelaine consists of high school friends, lead singer Stormy Piña, guitarist Donny Bayless, guitarist Wayne Davis, bassist Matt Hannum, and drummer Zach Sebree. After high school, Donny, Wayne, and Zach formed Adelaine and quickly realized something -- or rather, someone! -- was missing. Matt and Stormy soon joined the group. "I was in another band at the time and they kept asking me to audition for them. I finally did, and it just clicked," Stormy says. "It was meant to be."
2. The best way Adelaine describes their music is upbeat songs that also have a darker, emotional side. "We want people to know that we have been where they are and there is hope on the other side," Stormy says. "We want people to hear the songs the way their heart takes it and be impacted. Above all, we want to be a positive influence," Donny adds.
3. Adelaine has a busy year ahead, gearing up for the release of their sophomore album Currents and getting ready to hit the road on tour with Sumerlin this April and May.
4. The first single set for release from Currents is "Bad Blood", an up-tempo song about relationships, betrayal, and forgiveness, the perfect sample of what the album is all about.
