J-14 Video: One Direction's "Little Things"

Music-Video-One-Direction-Little-Things.jpg

The "Little Things" music video is finally here -- and we are in love with it! One Direction's second song from their sophomore album, Take Me Home, is a totally different vibe for the guys. The romantic ballad offers each of the guys an awesome solo and has the sweetest, swoon-worthy lyrics!

The track was written by Ed Sheeran when he was 17 -- and when 1D heard it, they immediately asked to have it included on their album. "Their voices make this song big," Ed tells J-14. "I can't do that with an acoustic guitar, so it's better that the song went to them."

And the black and white video keeps up the song's low-key, sweet vibe, with each of the guys performing their solos in a recording studio.

Check out the video for Little Things below:

Behind-Scenes-Olly-Murs-Vevo-Go-Show.jpg

Recently, J-14 had the opportunity to head to Central Park in NYC for a fun-filled afternoon with British sensation Olly Murs -- while he recorded his VevoGO video for his brand new single, "Troublemaker"!

Olly Tweeted out his Central Park location only an hour before showing up -- but tons of fans still got the message and were there to greet him when he arrived! After performing "Troublemaker" and "Heart Skips A Beat" for the crowd, we had a chance to chat with him all about his new album, what song he's most excited to perform at Z100's Jingle Ball this December (1D and Ed Sheeran will also be there!), and more!

J-14: Give everyone the scoop on your new album, Right Place, Right Time, coming out December 4!
Olly Murs:
The album's amazing! It's been a long, long process for me. I've been in the studio for most of the year and touring as well, so it's been pretty crazy. I mean, any artist is going to sit here when their album comes out and say it's the best -- that's what we do -- but I genuinely feel like it's my best. Fingers crossed that it comes across well and people like it.

J-14: And you worked with Flo Rida on the album! What was that like?
Olly Murs:
Collaborate with Flo Rida was pretty amazing. We called him from the UK and after a few text messages and emails, we got there. He heard the song "Troublemaker" and loved it and jumped on. When you get someone as big as Flo Rida on a song it just gives it that extra 10%, so I'm really excited about that.

J-14 Reader Blog: I Survived Hurricane Sandy

$

alexis-joy-Hurricane-Sandy1.jpg

J-14's teen guest blogger Alexis Joy shares her terrifying Hurricane Sandy experience...

I live in Long Beach, NJ -- one of the most hit areas during Hurricane Sandy. When I first heard that the storm would be coming, the idea of getting another hurricane which was supposed to be even worse than last year's Hurricane Irene really was astonishing for me and so frightening. But my fear had just begun.

We lost power at about 5:30 PM on Monday, October 28. Right away, my mom and I lit two candles; we were trying to conserve the candles for future days without power. The hurricane really started to hit us badly at about 6:00 p.m. My house was shaking tremendously due to the heavy winds, as if there was an earthquake occurring at the same time. The wind was so loud and in my room all I could hear was the whistling of the wind up against my window. The scariest part of the night was the extreme flooding. My mom and I looked out our window and all we could see were the waves rushing in. It was the most terrifying sight!

Fortunately we were up pretty high, but all we could see below looking out the window was water increasing in height. Overall, we probably had about seven feet of flooding. Because of the high tide, the flooding was higher and surging in faster. At that point, I was thinking, "What would happen if the water came up even higher to where my mom and I were?" Needless to say, I didn't get any sleep that night between the shaking of the house, whistling of the wind, and the thoughts of survival in my head.

The next day, Tuesday, I was ecstatic and so grateful that my mom and I had survived. But the nightmare wasn't over yet. The hurricane had left my town with no electricity, no water, and no sewage. The streets were filled with oil and garbage all over. By then, thankfully, the water had receeded; but it left an overwhelming amount of destruction to my basement. All my pictures/ memories from when I was a newborn to ten years old were all gone. Both of our cars were ruined, and when my mom opened the car, water was even inside it. We had to evacuate because my town was declared a town in devastation and was not livable.

alexis-joy-Hurricane-Sandy3.jpg

There was absolutely no phone or internet reception, so we couldn't get in touch with anybody to help us get out of our home. I was beyond terrified at that point thinking we were stranded there -- until one of our gracious and very simpathetic neighbors offered us a ride seeing our desperation. We right away took the offer, since that was our only hope. It was a miracle and we were so beyond grateful for our neighbors who were our saviors.

My mom and I were inside the car with nothing else but ourselves -- none of our belongings -- all we wanted to do was leave the town and seek a safe, livable shelter, which in this case was my grandparents' home. It was night and there were no working street lights. As we were driving past a town, we saw boats in the middle of the train station. With thanks to prayers and our wonderful neighbors, we got to my grandparents' house safly without any accidents. It was the biggest sigh of relief for my mom and me and the biggest load off our chests. All this, I thought to myself, in only about 24 hours.

Now we have been blessed to be staying at my grandparents' house. This past week, we've visited my town of Long Beach twice and it's so heartbreaking. Seeing signs that say "Be strong" and "Hope" as well as so many valuables being thrown out. Not to forget, Long Beach has a curfew from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and checkpoints coming into the town on certain parkways to prevent looters. There are amazing and truly sympathetic national guards and army men in my town doing their very best to help distribute water and pre-packed meals. My school has been closed for almost two weeks and is closed until further notice.

Hurricane Sandy has been a total nightmare that I wish I could just wake up from; but despite all of this, I'm so blessed and grateful to be with my family and be safe. All I say to myself is "This too shall pass." The genuinely caring messages from friends who are basically family have helped me and my mom get by and be strong for the days to come. I'm so inspired by my mom who is doing everything in her power to get things back to normal.

For people who want to donate to the victims of Hurricane Sandy, info can be found from the Red Cross at www.redcross.org (@RedCross on Twitter and @Fema on Twitter). From coats to food, anything and everything will help!

This Just In: Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez Break Up

Selena-Gomez-Justin-Bieber-break-up.jpg

After nearly two years of dating, sources confirm that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have ended their relationship. "Selena broke up with Justin about a week ago. It's been a really challenging experience over the last year because of their crazy schedules," a source says. "Selena definitely had some major trust issues with Justin."

There were signs of trouble in recent weeks, starting with Justin posting an Instagram selfie with an anagramed caption for "single" that he quickly deleted. Then, rumors flew of Justin "flirting" and "exchanging numbers" with models after his performance at the Victoria's Secret fashion show on Wednesday, November 7.

He was even spotted on a date to Broadway's 'The Lion King' with model Barbara Palvin on Thursday night. Still, Barbara, a 19-year-old Hungarian model, says she has a boyfriend and Tweeted to fans, "Please calm down! [Justin] is all yours!"

justin-bieber-barbara-palvin.jpg

Selena, seemingly displeased with Justin's behavior lately, retweeted a pic of him with a model standing behind him and added the caption "...."

But despite calling it quits, there's always the chance Justin and Selena could reconcile as they've done in the past. "They are [young]. It changes from day to day. Right now it is a break and tomorrow it could be back on knowing them... it's hard to say how they will end up," a source says. "Maybe she feels more serious about it this time. We'll see."

How do you feel about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's breakup? Who do you think they should date next? Or should they get back together?

The-Script-3.jpg

J-14 is scouting out the hottest bands around... and this week's pick is Irish alternative rock band The Script.

Here are five things you need to know about The Script whose latest album 3 is out now!

1. Formed back in 2001, Dublin's The Script consists of front man and keyboardist Danny O'Donoghue, guitarist Mark Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power. After two hit albums 'The Script' and 'Science & Faith', the trio released their appropriately titled third album 3, this fall. "Studio 3 was also where we recorded the album. We just remembered the 3 on the door and we were messing around with the 3's on the album," Danny explains to J-14. "The basic same shape of a 3 is also an E and it was funny because when we sat to delve more in to it, E and that shape is the most used shape in language."

2. Though they've been making music for over a decade, The Script doesn't feel that their music has changed much throughout the years. "We try to write better songs that's all. We've tipped our hat a little more to r&b and hip-hop on this record. I think that's grown a little more but I think it's confidence more than anything else in our songwriting," Mark says. "It seems like on this album we've got that perfect melt of rock, pop, r&b, hip-hop," Danny tells J-14.

3. The new album is full of positive songs including their new single "Hall of Fame" and a track they've opened their tour with called "Good Ol' Days" which they describe as "a rowdy, rhythm-driven song about living in the here and now, rather than basking in nostalgia."

Exclusive-Liz-Gillies-Talks-End-of-Victorious-New-Music.jpg

Hey J-14 readers! We know you're all heartbroken to hear that your favorite Nickelodeon show, Victorious, is now airing it's fourth (and final!) season. We feel your pain, but in celebration of the final episodes, we hung out with Liz Gillies (who plays Jade) to get the scoop on her final days with her cast members, the newest Victorious soundtrack, and the one item she simply had to have when filming ended! Check it out below!

J-14: The final episodes of 'Victorious' are set to air early next year. How do you feel about the end of the era?
Liz Gillies:
I'm very sad. It's more upsetting that I'm not going to see everyone because we were such good friends, but it's also sad that we won't get to play those characters anymore. Though who knows what the future has in store! I'm really close with everyone, but I think Ariana [Grande] and I have the longest standing friendship - but I have a very special relationship with the entire cast!

J-14: When you left the 'Victorious' set for the final time, did you take anything with you?
Liz Gillies:
A lot of clothes! They were very important to me. I took Jade's most iconic, little things. I took my spiky boots, and I took my cuff that says Jaded that I had during the pilot. I'm glad they let me take that.

Victorious-3.0-Songs-From-The-Final-Season.jpg

J-14: Tell us about the new 'Victorious' soundtrack that just came out!
Liz Gillies:
The new soundtrack just came out and it's great! There's a song on it that I wrote in an episode that hasn't aired yet - Tori Fixes Beck and Jade - and it's a song I wrote three or four years ago when we had just wrapped the first season of 'Victorious.' I wrote it for Jade in her perspective and had a whole story in my mind for it. I sent it to Dan and was like, "Oh, here's a little song I wrote. Let me know what you think." He's like, "I really like it." Then he surprised me this year in season four and said that they would be using it in the show! The fans are going to die because they were so upset when we broke up, so they're going to love it.

Behind-the-Scenes-One-Direction-Today-Show-Performance-Exclusive.jpg

This morning, J-14 had the opportunity to experience one of the biggest events in Today Show history: One Direction taking over the stage for a performance to celebrate the release of their sophomore album, Take Me Home!

Despite the rain and chilly weather, thousands of fans camped out (some for days!) to get a glimpse of the guys' performance -- and they weren't disappointed. 1D performed six songs in total, half of which aired this morning on the 'Today Show' and three that will air tomorrow. Among the tracks they rocked live were their hit songs "What Makes You Beautiful" and "One Thing," as well as Ed Sheeran-penned ballads "Little Things" and "Moments," their first 'Take Me Home' single "Live While We're Young," and -- for the first time EVER! -- their next single "Kiss You!"

In between filmings, the guys thanked their fans for waiting out in the rain and signed autographs whenever they could. (Liam even took a fan's camera to take a picture with her from the stage!)

They also made a huge announcement: that their first 3D movie would be hitting theaters on August 30, 2013!

Check out tons of exclusive pics below -- and a video of 1D performing their next single "Kiss You" for the first time live!

Did you watch One Direction's Today Show performance? Have you picked up Take Me Home yet? What's your favorite song on the new album?

J-14 Exclusive Interview: Beatrice Miller Talks 'The X Factor'& One Direction

Beatrice-Miller.jpg

Meet 13-year-old Beatrice Miller: She's 'The X Factor US' season two contestant who Britney Spears says has "the best personality" and the girl that Harry Styles racked up a "big phone bill" voting for. Although the competition is fierce, Beatrice took a break to chat exclusively with J-14 about hanging with One Direction, working with Demi Lovato, and the secret romances happening backstage!

J-14: What has your 'X Factor" experience been like so far? You got to meet One Direction when they performed on the November 7 show!

Beatrice Miller: It's been an adventure. There have been a lot of ups and downs because I've gone through good times -- like good performances where I've gotten really good feedback -- and I've gone through bad times where it's been exactly the opposite. But mostly, it's been good! I'm going to admit, I was not a huge fan of One Direction before they came, but once I met them, I'm now a huge fan! They're actually so nice. They were just chilling and playing soccer right outside the studio.

J-14: And we hear Harry Styles is big fan of yours!

Beatrice: Harry took the time out of his day to come talk to me because one of the vocal coaches had told him that I was having issues with my confidence. He told me a story about how he 'hit a bum note' and he looked up 'Harry's mistakes' [online] and was reading all of the hate. He said he just sat in his room and was really upset. He was trying to give me an example like, "You know what? I moved on. You don't need to read that stuff. It's not important and it will just make you feel bad." He was just trying to make me feel better. And then he told everyone to vote for me on Twitter! And he followed me, and I was like "This is cool! This is the life of a superstar!" I went up like 30,000 followers in two days because of Harry Styles. It was great.

J-14: Now that you've been able to work with Britney Spears and interact with Demi Lovato, what's something fans would be surprised to know about them?

Beatrice: Britney doesn't get enough credit for her humor. Britney is so, so funny. She's always saying jokes while we were waiting backstage. She's just great. And Demi is really nice and honestly, pictures don't do her justice -- she is so gorgeous. She's so pretty and she's funny too.

J-14: Which 'X Factor' contestants have you grown the closest to?

Beatrice: I spend a lot of time with Diamond White and Carly Rose Sonenclar and Arin Ray because they're in my category, but it's also like Arin is my big brother and Carly and Diamond are my sisters. When Diamond got sent home like two weeks ago me, Carly, and Arin were falling apart. It sucked. But when she came back we we're all so happy to be back together. I don't like to think of it as a competition anymore at this point because I've gotten so close to everyone here that if I get sent home but Carly and Diamond stay, I'm going to be at home voting for them. I would be so proud of them. I'll be proud of whoever makes it through.

J-14: What's something that people would be surprised to know about boy band Emblem3?

Beatrice: They are insane. They seem like they're collected and calm when they're on stage, but they're just crazy. They have such big personalities and they just like to do stupid boy things, but also all three of them are really good musicians. Drew is always walking around with a guitar. I know that they all play instruments and they really want to play instruments [on the show] so you might want to look out for that.

J-14: Are there any backstage romances we should know about this season on 'The X Factor'?
Beatrice:
I don't have anything going on but I know that a few people do. Arin Ray and somebody -- I'm not going to say who -- you can just guess, but there is something going on.

Check out Beatrice's performance of "Titanium" during the judges' houses round:

'The X Factor' airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

They posed alongside what they thought were 'wax' statues of the guys, only to be shocked beyond belief when Harry, Zayn, Louis, Liam, and Niall reached out to hug them!

After four years and five movies, it's finally time to say goodbye to 'The Twilight Saga.' But before you go camp out for the final 'Twilight' midnight premiere for 'Breaking Dawn, Part 2,' take a trip down memory lane with the J-14 editors as we look back at our favorite moments from the entire series -- then share yours in the comments below!

"I love the scene where Jacob and Bella finally go on their first date to the movie theater -- but Mike Newton tags along! It's a bit of a disastrous third-wheel situation, but it just made me fall in love with Jacob! Even though Bella and Edward were destined to be, I'm still Team Jacob!" -- J-14 Editorial Associate Katie Amey

"My favorite moment from the 'Twilight' series was when Bella first found out that Jacob was a werewolf in New Moon. Loved the visual effects when he shifted and it was an intense scene!" -- J-14 Photo Assistant Nicole Mazza

"It's a close call between Bella and Edward's wedding in 'Breaking Dawn, Part 1' and the tent scene in 'Eclipse.' But in the end, I think nothing can top the look in Edward's eyes as Bella walks down the aisle. It's pure magic. ...And I'm still hoping for a real-life repeat with Rob and Kristen in the future!" -- J-14 Deputy Editor Ashley Spencer

"After Edward leaves Bella in 'New Moon,' I love the relationship thats grows between Bella and Jacob. When Bella falls off her motorcycle and Jacob takes his shirt off to wipe Bella's forehead has got to be the best moment of 'New Moon'!" -- J-14 Photo Editor Danielle Kepler

"How sweet was Edward and Bella's very first date in Port Angeles in the first movie? I never thought I'd fall in love with a cold vampire -- but boy was Mr. Cullen the perfect date. Heck, I now even find myself craving mushroom ravioli... sigh." -- J-14 Editor-in-Chief Rachel Chang

"My favorite 'Twilight' moment was in the first film when Edward saved Bella from being hit by the bus. He was so protective of her even before he really knew her -- so sweet!" -- J-14 Assistant Editor Laura Knipping
